Rough Life

Times have been tough for poor Floyd lately. She had to spend an entire day sleeping on my bed with *no sheets* or mattress pad. She made it through though, as you can see in the following picture.

Floyd's actually been doing well, lately. She loves when people come over to visit. Lately, she's been really loving on Sarah and Chris and Annie. Sweet kitty!

The Literate Cat

Floyd is a very smart kitty. Here's the photographic proof: Floyd reading a book until she eventually falls asleep on it. Awww!

Non-update

Okay, so I haven't updated this thing in what - a couple of weeks now? I've had three different people asking me when I'd put up more Floyd pictures. My camera's still broken, so it's hard for me to post things. Mello has some cute ones that I'll stick on here as soon as I get a chance, though.

Floyd's been doing great, except she's beating up on Rex a lot. And we got a minor ant infestation that spread to her kitty fountain (stupid ants!) I moved the fountain which seems to be working alright for now. If anyone has any pet-safe ant proofing tips, I'd be happy to hear them.

More toys!

Today, I didn't have work, so I took a nice long nap with all the pets. It was so cute. At one point, Rex and Buddy were both on the bed snoozing and Floyd was curled up pretty much on top of Rex's tail. She's decided that she can totally boss the dogs around. If they try to get in her way, or if they're getting petted and she's not, she'll smack them in the face or yell at them.

Mello came home from work today with toys that Megan L brought for Floyd. They're two little mice that rattle when you shake them. Floyd loves them! She kept batting them off of the couch. Her favorite is the pink one. When I left the living room just now, she was snoozing away with the little pink mouse tucked under her paws.

Playing with both mice.

And yelling at the dogs, who came a little too close to her toys. They keep stealing her catnip mice when she's not looking.

Mello will be gone for the weekend and is taking her camera with her. My camera is being sent out for repairs, so that means I probably won't be able to update too much for the next few days. I plan to start putting up new pictures around Tuesday or Wednesday-ish at the latest, though, and hopefully I can still get some taken in the meantime!

Fun and Relaxation

Okay, so the day after I start a "Daily Floyd" blog, I neglect to update it. I guess the subheading does say "more or less" on it, so that's alright. Here's a picture from yesterday and one from today.

Mello says that it turns out Floyd has been waiting all her life to live with a knitter. She spent yesterday snoozing on Mello's bed (which is a little cushier than mine is so all the pets love it.) Floyd got up when Mello started to knit. She tries to attack the yarn as you knit with it. So cute! Here's a picture:

Today, I'm off of work so I'm hanging out at home with the pets this morning. Everyone's biggest concern with Floyd coming here seems to be the dogs. She's done fine with them and doesn't really pay any attention to them unless they do something obnoxious like try to sniff her or take her toys. I think she's pretty comfortable with Rex, especially, as this picture evinces:

She was sleeping, but woke up when Mello got the camera.

Day One

Today was the first full day Floyd was at my house. She seems to be adjusting well to her retirement.

She's figured out where her food bowls, water bowls, and litter box are. She's decided that she really likes sleeping at the foot of my bed right next to the window. Also, Buddy's crate is her crate. She lets him borrow it during the day, but it's hers and not his.

Buddy's been showing studied disinterest in her. Buddy's seen Floyd at work enough to know that if he gets too close, she'll whack him. She's decided to tolerate the dogs here, though. She'll even let them sleep on the bed next to her. She's perfectly fine unless they try to sniff her or almost step on her.

Basically, Floyd seems pretty happy here. Within her first hour in the apartment, she decided that she owns the entire thing. She hasn't seemed upset at all and has been purring a lot.

This morning, before I left for work, I gave Floyd a couple of catnip mice. She had a great time playing with them! Today's pictures are of Floyd and one of her new toys. Enjoy!

In this one, Floyd was worried that one of the dogs would steal her toy. This turned out to be a justifiable concern. This evening, when we got home and let the dogs out, Buddy stole one toy mouse and Rex stole the other.
